There are two kinds of people in the world

There are two kinds of people in the world.

One who loves to provide their every update, selfies and check-ins on the social media as if their social media profile is their digital archive of their life. They crave stimulation, are easily bored and loves all the attention and drama that social media provides. And then there are others who updates their social media once in a while if they update at all, shares political posts and stuff relating to the public and humanity. They enjoy a warm cup of coffee with quiet contemplation, a book or a stimulating one to one conversation rather than being surrounded by room full of people to whom they can’t relate to.

If you are pondering on which category you fall into you can take a personality test online to be absolutely sure. (Deep down you know who you are, don’t you? These tests are just to kill time, isn’t it?).

Guess which category I fall into? The former or the later?

Well none actually.

I belong to a third imaginative category which I call: ‘Maybe I don’t belong here’. That’s pretty much how I feel sometime, well most of the time actually. I wish social media didn’t exist at all. I wish I could go back in time when all these filters to the photos and fake smiles and check-ins and the digital persona of us weren’t even created. When there was joy in the small little things of life. When you me and everybody weren’t glued to a screen round the clock. I believe a lot of people feel the same way.

For example Woody Allen. He definitely belongs to the ‘Maybe I don’t belong here’ group. (He even made a film romanticising the past – Midnight in Paris.)

The point is not that I don’t like social media (I do. Certain aspects of it.) But I am just not uncomfortable with all the attention and eyeballs and critics and comments and not to mention the drama it brings with it.

Writing has two parts.

One where you write, for yourself.

And the next part where you share your writing with the world.

For me the second part never existed. I never wanted to share what I wrote.

Hopefully that will change with this blog. As much nerve wrecking it is at the moment for me, I am jut plunging in with all my heart. Good or bad, time will tell. In the meantime let us just enjoy the journey.

See you on the other side of the journey. Bye.
